Born in Singapore in 1969, Chan Chun Sing grew up in a poor family and had a tough childhood. Despite facing financial struggles, he excelled in his studies and was eventually awarded a scholarship to study at the United States Military Academy at West Point. This experience molded his character and instilled in him a strong sense of discipline and determination.

After graduating from West Point, Chan Chun Sing served in the Singapore Armed Forces for over two decades, rising through the ranks to become Chief of Army in 2010. During his time in the military, he was recognized for his leadership abilities and was awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour for being the top cadet in his cohort at the Officer Cadet School.

In 2011, Chan Chun Sing made a switch to the political scene and joined the ruling political party, People’s Action Party (PAP). He quickly rose through the ranks and was appointed as the Minister for Trade and Industry in 2015, overseeing Singapore’s economic growth and development. He has also held various other ministerial roles, including Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister for Social and Family Development.
